Founder Jess' Daily Hair Health Routine

I’ve had long hair for most of my life which has demanded a little extra TLC to keep it healthy, strong and shiny. Over the years, I’ve experimented with so many haircare tools and products to ensure my hair is the healthiest - particularly during periods of stress, excess travel and harsh hair products for events, the hard water of different locations or whenever my diet and lifestyle routine is challenged.

Excited to share my daily haircare routine to help you nurture luscious, healthy locks. Like everything, I aim to approach my hair health holistically to ensure I’m nourishing it with love and care from the inside out. Taking this approach has made all the difference!

With care, Jess
Founder - JSHealth Vitamins

1. Nourishing Diet

A balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals supports healthy hair. I incorporate a diversity of foods and especially love including healthy fats like salmon, avocados and nuts, with much-needed Omegas for hair shine! Eggs for breakfast are a wonderful source of protein and biotin, two essential nutrients for hair growth. Hair follicles are mostly made of protein, and there is a range of research that suggests a lack of protein may cause hair loss (1). A scoop of JSHealth Vitamins Protein + Probiotics into a daily smoothie is another source of delicious protein, for my energising mid-morning snack!

2. Natural, High-Performance Products

My routine wouldn’t be the same without quality hair products. After years of experimenting and trialling, I knew I had to formulate a high-performance range that was clean and natural, but truly worked. We worked with leading scientists to choose a range of natural botanicals and scientific actives plus infusing our haircare with vitamins to provide gentle cleansing, deep hydration and lasting repair. Our 2-Step Vitamin Haircare System is free from nasties and contains only natural fragrances. Treating hair as an inside-out approach with ingestible haircare is essential when it comes to maintaining healthy hair and encouraging growth.

3. Gentle Drying and Styling

After washing, I pat my hair dry with a soft towel to prevent breakage and frizz - our hair is most delicate and fragile when wet! For this reason, I prefer letting my hair air-dry, but if I need to use a blow dryer, I keep it on a low heat setting. I use soft, thick scrunchies rather than thin hair ties to ensure no breakage and use this brush to gently detangle. Detangling brushes use thin bristles which encourage blood flow to the scalp - an essential for new hair follicle growth!

4. Regular Trims and Scalp Care

Regular trims every 8 weeks keep my hair fresh and free of split ends. When washing, I’m sure to focus on a calming scalp massage and deep cleansing to promote a healthy scalp. Our Purifying Vitamin Shampoo lathers and cleanses without stripping and smells truly divine! A non-negotiable part of my daily routine.

5. Weekly Hair Mask

I am all about self-care and many of you know I love to take my nightly lavender bath - it really is such a soothing wind-down ritual! Once a week, I add in a deep conditioning mask using our Nourishing Vitamin Conditioner. I apply it to damp hair and leave it on for 10-15 minutes whilst I practice mindful breathing. Sometimes I even slick my hair back into a bun with the conditioner as a styling product, and leave it in all day to truly repair and revitalise.

6. Targeted Supplements

Alongside a nourishing diet, I include targeted supplements to ensure my hair is supported in staying strong and healthy through every season of life. My go-to is a once-daily ingestible haircare formula containing Zinc and Iodine from Kelp, which really moves the needle when it comes to hair growth, strength and thickness! A pure marine collagen is also a beautiful addition into my daily regime. Research has shown that marine collagen can greatly contribute to hair health (2) - I love adding a versatile, unflavoured powder to my smoothies, baking or in hot drinks!
